Week of All Cultures

Celebrating diversity at IISD

Week of All Cultures

At the Institut International Saint-Dominique of Rome, diversity is not just a characteristic; it is a strength. From 7 to 10 April, the school came alive with the ‘Week of All Cultures’. This significant event transformed the pupils’ daily lives into a time of intercultural exchange, marked by a spirit of diversity and sharing.

A culinary journey

This themed week began with a focus on food. To celebrate the many nationalities represented at IISD, pupils were invited to suggest dishes typical of their countries. Pasquetta, Bánh xèo, Attiéké…: Under the guidance of our head chef, the canteen was transformed into a gourmet destination, offering a new culinary journey every day and encouraging lively conversation between classes.

Celebrations in traditional dress

The highlight of the celebrations took place on Friday 10 April. Swapping their school uniforms for traditional dress, the pupils transformed the corridors into a living mosaic. This explosion of colour and shared heritage was a testament to the kindness and cultural richness that define our school community.

Excellence from the heart: solidarity in action

Beyond the festivities, the ‘Week of All Cultures’ had a focus on solidarity. Thanks to the involvement of families and pupils during a shared tea party, a fundraiser was organised for the charity Emergency.

This donation will support the medical care provided by the NGO in conflict zones, reminding our pupils that openness to the world always goes hand in hand with a commitment to others.

Embodying the values of IISD Rome

The success of this week demonstrates that IISD is much more than a school of excellence: it is a place where one learns to become a global citizen. By celebrating our differences, we strengthen what unites us. This is a valuable initiative that the school intends to continue so that, every day, it remains a window onto humanity.

Come and meet us!
