ISD is an IB World School

School of the Odyssey group, partner of the AEFE network and accredited with the International Baccalaureate Organization since 2021, the Saint-Dominique Institute in Rome is expanding its teaching offer and opening an English international section from September 2022. An English conference on the IB program will take place on ZOOM on April 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

A multilingual course

A multilingual program is offered at ISD from kindergarten (since September 2021) then in cycle 1 (from September 2022) with bilingual teaching (French-English). From cycle 3 to the end of middle school, this course includes 40% teaching in foreign languages applied to letters, arts and sciences.

In high school, according to the choice of orientation:

  1. European Section or ESABAC of the French Baccalaureate
  2. English International Section (International Baccalaureate)

International Baccalaureate

Offered in more than 5,000 schools around the world and recognized by the largest universities, the International Baccalaureate is prepared as part of the English international section.

  • Grade 10 (opening 2022). Pre-IB « We foster our students’ love for learning, encourage them to try new and exciting things, and give them a solid foundation to build on. » The Pre-IB Programme at ISD aims to offer a rigorous and balanced year-long preparatory course tailored to prepare Grade 10 students for the academic challenges of the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Pre-IB programme is specifically designed for students who are interested in graduating with an IB Diploma Programme but may lack the skills that are necessary to succeed in the programme and/or would like to strengthen their academic level before embarking the Diploma Programme journey. Our courses will focus on ensuring that students acquire the subject knowledge, pre-requisite and skills required for success in the Diploma. In addition to the intensive English and tailored Mathematics courses, students will learn French, Italian, Sciences, and Humanities. These courses will be supported by research/time management, physical education, arts, and community service hours.

 

  • DP1 and DP2: General organisation of the Diploma Programme’s teaching. The common core aims to broaden the educational experience of students and encourage them to apply their knowledge and skills. It includes 3 elements: –> Theory of knowledge (TOK) –> Extended Essay (personal research with a written assignment of 4000 words) –> Creativity, Action, Services (CAS, collective project) The 6 groups of subjects are as follows and are themselves composed of several disciplines [offered at ISD]: –> Group 1: Studies in language and literature (Language A) [English / French / Italian] –> Group 2: Language acquisition (Language B) [English / French] –> Group 3: Individuals & Societies [Business & Management / History / Geography] –> Group 4 : Sciences [Biology / Physics] –> Group 5: Mathematics –> Group 6: Arts.
