43 students from IISD at the CWMUN in Rome

An international diplomatic immersion

Our students at the heart of international debates in Rome

From February 5 to 7, 43 students from our school took part in the CWMUN conference in Rome, one of the largest Model United Nations gatherings in Europe, bringing together nearly 1,000 students from around the world.

Official opening inside the iconic FAO headquarters in Rome

The conference opened with an inaugural ceremony at the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It then continued with committee sessions held on “Piazza della Repubblica”, offering our students an exceptional setting in which to debate major international issues.

Debate, analyse, propose

For three days, our students worked in committees on major global issues. This experience enabled them to develop: their ability to analyse complex challenges, their critical thinking skills, their confidence in speaking in an international context, their capacity to propose concrete, well‑argued solutions. They demonstrated remarkable commitment, open‑mindedness, and thoughtful communication when engaging with diverse perspectives.

An experience aligned with the IB spirit at IISD

Participation in the CWMUN is fully aligned with the dynamic of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, which promotes inquiry, independence, civic engagement and international cooperation. Through MUN conferences, students develop their leadership, sense of initiative and ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment, essential skills for thriving in a constantly evolving world.

A source of pride for our international community

We are especially proud of the 43 students who represented our school with responsibility, maturity and enthusiasm throughout this enriching academic and human experience. Their participation highlights the importance of dialogue, respect and cooperation in building sustainable solutions to global challenges.
